Ellie Jane Goulding was born in Hereford England on December 30 1986. Tracey Goulding Summers Her mother was employed at a grocery store. Arthur Goulding is the father. Goulding's elder sister Isabel and her younger sister Jordan are all siblings. Alex is her brother. Alex Goulding's older brother plays bass. Also, he is an Hereford musician. When she was a child she was encouraged by her mother to learn music by her mother. When she was in the 9th grade, she started learning clarinet. By the time she reached 14 years old, she began to write her own songs but didn't begin truly singing until the college years. Goulding began to become attracted to electronic music during the time she was studying. She came across Frankmusik an artist and record producer via MySpace. Through his guidance, she developed her own folktronica style. Jamie Lillywhite was a scout who discovered her during that time. He started out as manager but later moved on to become A.&R. for the university contest. Lillywhite subsequently connected her to music producer Starsmith who was instrumental in the release on 15 November 2009 of her debut single under the Sheets. The next album he worked on was her album Lights. While they released the album Under the Sheets under the independent label Neon Gold Records, she was already signed to Polydor Records. After graduating from DeKalb in 1983, she received a scholarship for Northwestern University. However, after only one semester in the university, she dropped out to focus on her modeling career. In 2005, she launched the Cindy Crawford Home Collection, an assortment of furniture that was launched in 2005.
